Following the death of 4-year-old Javeayah Harris, I interviewed Ricky Cleveland, the man who built a memorial cross in her honor. The story focused on the community’s grief, the meaning behind the tribute and the impact Javeayah’s story had on people across the CSRA. Through the interview, I worked to approach an emotional story with sensitivity while giving viewers a closer look at one person’s effort to help a grieving community remember her.
